When We Were Helpless …

“For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.” Romans 5.6

I am struck by these words: “in due time“. As we look closely at the program and plan of God, everything He does is always “at the right time.” Galatians 4.4 uses a similar phrase: “But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law …” When the Son of God came to this earth, entering the body of a baby, taking His first breath, not in a palace with everything for a king’s son already in place, but in a manger – a cattle stall – with His first visitors some humble shepherds, He came “at just the right time.” How do I know that? That is what God said – in the FULNESS of time. We are rapidly approaching the time when we will CELEBRATE His birth. As we do so, think about WHEN He came, WHY He came, WHERE He came, and TO WHOM He came. And think about His adversary. Satan tried for the next 30+ years to circumvent the plan of God. But he could not. Why? Because “in due time Christ died for the ungodly.“That is you and that is me. This old world was helpless and in desperate need of a Savior. God’s purpose and plan required that He sent His BEST – His only begotten Son. This plan that was formed in the counsels of eternity past became a reality “in due time“. Don’t waste this season that gives each one of us opportunity to celebrate not just the season but the Savior. Remember YOUR OWN helpless state and then share the HOPE that you have in Christ with someone who may never have heard the story – or at least hasn’t understood why Jesus really came. Let God use YOU to be a blessing to someone today. Just my thoughts …
