The Pleasure of a Right Focus

Colossians 3.17: “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him”

One of the great practical values of the writings of the Apostle Paul is his ability, under the Spirit’s guidance, help us not lose our focus in our daily walk with the Lord. His opening phrase pretty much includes the whole of life: “whatsoever you do in word or deed …” Until we come to grips with the truth that our lives our called to glorify Him, we are going to struggle with this matter of focus. Look next at the object of our focus – the Lord Jesus. “Do all in the name of the Lord Jesus …” Rather than spending wasted time determining our next course of action, why not allow God’s Holy Spirit to show us the “next step”?
As you look back across this day, can you thank God for allowing you to make each choice  you have made – or did it cross your mind to ASK for His leadership? Let me urge you to meditate on what you know God wants from you and for you. Giving thanks is a privilege – it should also be a part of our daily prayer time. Just my thoughts …

EDITOR’S NOTE: Some who are reading this are aware that I have not posted anything for the last few weeks because of ongoing health issues. I am facing another major surgery in the near future. I appreciate your prayers.
