“Make an Appointment!”

“My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. (4) For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.” Psalm 5.3-4

There are some interesting truths here from David. (1) He had an appointment with God every morning. It is sad that many of God’s children do not have any time set aside for God. David told God, “I will meet you every morning, Lord!” He looked forward to his time with God. Let me ask this: “Do you have a time that you have set aside for God? Is your time with God something to which you look forward?” How can a believer go day-after-day with NO connection with God whatsoever and somehow feel like their spiritual life is OK? Look at the object of his prayer: “My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD”. He is talking to the God of heaven – the Creator of the universe, the Savior of sinners. THIS is important.
Verse 4 is a reminder to all: “For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.” (2) He recognized something about the character of God that helped shape his life – both in prayer and in behavior. If there is ANY wickedness in the life of God’s child, God is NOT happy with it. When God is unhappy with our behavior, it is time to CHANGE. We must NEVER make “provision for the flesh” (Romans 13.14). When we purposely ALLOW the flesh to have its way, we grieve the Holy Spirit and we are estranged from God. Look at this phrase: “neither shall evil dwell with thee.” Satan will do all in his power to bring evil influence and activity into your life. “Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” (James 4.7) Resisting is an active thing, not something passive. We must take action against the works of Satan. Let’s covenant together to make a time to spend with God and keep that appointment every day. Just My Thoughts  …
