His Word Is Sure!

“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” Matthew 24.35

One of the things that establishes Christianity and those who follow Christ as “reliable” is the eternality of what we believe and the unchanging Word of God. One of the things that is a great expense for schools is their need to replace their textbooks because things change so rapidly. When I pick up the Word of God, no matter where I start reading, I know that the words have not changed and the meaning of those words have not changed. When I read, “In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth … “, I know that was true when Moses wrote it and it is still true today, no matter how much society, academia, culture, and science want us to believe otherwise.
In 1 Peter 1.25 we read: “But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.” Each of us was saved by hearing the same gospel. It doesn’t change to fit the culture, or to make those who hear it feel good. It simply declares that we are all sinners and that Jesus is the only Savior. The reliability of the book we hear preached every Sunday and that some read every day is something we can count on. “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” Hallelujah! Live today and each day in the light of the knowledge that what God has said is true and it will always be true. Just my thoughts …
